Brenham - Battered & Bruised

Brenham, as well as much of southern Texas, endured thunderstorms over the last two days. We were under several severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado warnings, and flood warnings.
These photographs verify the severity of these storms. Friday afternoon brought upon the worst of the storms with high winds, heavy rain, and severe lightning. Our lights kept flickering throughout the day; losing electricity only once.
At one point, there was a "freight train" sounding wind, which usually indicates a tornado is waiting to devour you... After realizing how strong the winds were, we decided to stay clear from any windows and take "shelter" for awhile. Rain was coming down from all different directions, wind was blowing every which way, branches were breaking and flying towards our home.
After the storms had finally passed through on Saturday afternoon, we decided to take a drive around Brenham to see what damage had been done. To our surprise, their were trees literally uprooted everywhere... and we are talking HUGE trees. There was flooding throughout the town, branches everywhere in the streets, and some power outage as well.
This is Stormy Clearweather signing off. Thank you for tuning in to the Shannel Channel.

Matt and I went driving around this evening, too. I had no idea how bad it was either! We were really lucky, huh?

I haven't read this yet, but I HAVE to tell you that I saw Brenham on Good Morning American Sunday morning. They said nothing about the storms, but were showing the beautiful landscapes and wildflowers!!!! First, the introduced it saying they were taking us to Texas to a place where the state flower grows all over. So, I told Richard...maybe its Brehnam, and IT WAS!

Okay, now I am going to read the post.

for those of you that have asked, we - fortunately - had no damage done to our new place. just a lot of tree branches down in the yard... and when we drove around town, MOST of the huge trees didn't even hit the homes... they barely missed them. crazy, huh??
