10 Reasons of How We Know We Are in Texas

10. When a passerby says, "Howdy."
9. When all your friends say "y'all" and you still say "you guys."
8. When all your friends' "byes" sound like "bah."
7. When you have lizards as pets on your back patio.
6. When someone uses "I reckon" in a sentence!
5. When someone says that your son is "fixin' to run" soon!
4. When you can turn your A.C. on in the winter!
3. When you say you'd like a "pop" at a restaurant and they look at you like you're crazy (down here it's soda, by the way).
2. When you fear for your life during hurricane season!
1. Two words: Blue Bell

i think the accent is so cute. i had a roommate from san antonio and i totally picked some of it up by the time i moved. it's makes you sound sweeter. :)

I was a southern belle as a child. I had a little high pitched southern accent, although it was different than the texas drawl since I was in Alabama. We have videos and it is pretty dang cute.

Then, I moved to NY and during my first day at 1st grade everyone asked me why I talked so funny. I didn't even realize that I did. It must have worn off after a while because it is gone now.

I had no idea everybody didn't say "fixin' to" until just a few years ago! Just wait... by the time you and Andrew leave here, y'all will sound like Texans, too. It just sneaks up on ya!
