Brode started school this week. I had enjoyed having Brode home all summer and was somewhat dreading "letting him go" once again. However, he was ready. It made my mother's heart feel at peace watching him walk in with confidence. I am so proud of him. I was proud of myself, too! I shed no tears this year. Last year, if you remember, I made it down the hallway before I had to pull my sunglasses down. Next year, however, when I have to let him go full time, every day... That's going to crush me.
After picking Brode up from school the first day, he smiled and said he had already made a friend! By the second day he had made a couple more and already drew a picture for a girl... By the third day, his teacher said he not only had one girlfriend, but two (there are only 2 girls in his class)! :P Of course, Brode has no clue what it means to have a girlfriend but he is definitely my little romantic one. Oh boy, am I in trouble...
Praise the Lord for a loving, safe environment for my son to learn in. I'm so grateful for the teachers who take the time to love him, teach him, and nurture him. I was hesitant sending him to a new school; in a new city but by the end of his first week, I already felt reassured and confident that he's where he's supposed to be.
