Not a Widow Anymore!!!

It's official. I'm no longer a widow. The Eagle's football season has come to an end. Although the road was long and hard, we can officially say "job well done!"

There were definitely ups and downs this season as the coaching staff started a new school, built a new football program from scratch, and then took on the task of training young, inexperienced boys into hard-working, goal-setting young men - both on and off the field.

I asked Andrew what his goal was in the beginning of the season with this young group of boys - most with no playing experience & most being poverty-stricken - and his response, "daily improvement and build team chemistry." Now that the season has come to a close, I asked him if he felt like the team accomplished his goal. His answer, "yes."

I have to admit, being competitive by nature, the games were sometimes "hard" to watch (considering their lack of experience). However, I found joy in watching these young men improve and progress each week. By the final game, I could see/hear the excitement in not only the boys but in the coaches as well. They had made progress.

Although I will see my husband more often (and the boys will have Daddy around too), football is never really over. The coaches and team are already working hard at their off-season approach and are looking forward to new challenges as they continue to build their program.

Congrats, Coach Shanle on a successful first season! We look forward to seeing you and your team progress as the years move on, but for now... we will enjoy having the man of our house around more often! :)
