Although this picture was staged, we do have some pretty exciting news to share! As of last Saturday, Brode has been sleeping in his big boy bed! We were just getting ready to tuck one of his lovies into his big boy bed before going back into the nursery for Brode's nap. Brode tucked in his "Ree" and then asked if he could sleep in there with her. I thought to myself, "if he's willing... wanting to try this, I need to let him." So, we grab all of his lovies from the other room and tuck him in (half expecting him to let out a shrill scream when we left). However, when we left the room, we heard nothing... But when we did hear the door open and close really fast... We thought "oh great... he's not ready..." but he never came out of his room. He crawled right back into bed and fell fast asleep!
When I went to check on him, he was out cold... he slept 2.5 hours and must have been loving the extra room! He can lay every which way, now, and still have room for those long legs! When he woke up, we went in, picked him up, and praised him. He hugged us so tight and just beamed!
I didn't think the night would go as easily... but it did. We tucked him in and he fell fast asleep - even slept throughout the night with no problems. The past two nights and now three naps have been everything but what I expected. I, of course, expected the worst - thought it'd be a hard transition - but our 22 month old son is sleeping in his very own big boy bed and seems to be loving it. I think the transition was a lot harder for Mommy & Daddy than Brode. I wasn't "ready" for the move but apparently have to accept the fact that our son is growing up. We are proud of you, Brode James!!! You handled this like a champ! ;)
