A Day for Brode

We have been planning a few special play dates for Brode before the baby comes. What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than by taking our son to the Children's Museum in Austin.
As you can see he was loving on his Daddy... which made Daddy's Valentine's Day extra sweet! ;)
There were so many fun exhibits to walk through. Above left, Brode got to explore singing/dancing frogs, lilly pads, and bridges. Above middle, Brode got to play with a big, red barn and farm animals. There was even a life-sized cow he could milk! Above right, Brode played "Vet." He took care of all the animals by kissing them and putting them in their kennels.
At the Global City exhibit (where kids explore how people work, live, and play together), Brode was able to climb to the top of the observatory deck and watch trains go by through the windows below.Brode also enjoyed the "Funstruction Zone" where he could put on a hard hat and build houses.
Here's our precious boy smiling ever so "sweetly" in his playhouse. We're going to have to get him one of those some day...
Above left, Brode drove his Mom and Dad in the "city bus." He could steer, talk on the phone, and drop people off! He was so proud of himself. Above middle, Brode pretended to be asleep in a kids bedroom. And above right, Brode was able to bang drums as loud as he could and fiddle with a banjo.
Brode could sense that our time was coming to an end, so he immediately began giving us one of his "puppy dog" faces and signing "more-more." Of course, we couldn't pass that up so we gave him a few more minutes... After all, it was HIS day.
Of course, Mommy was thinking, "germs germs" and "he's bound to get sick after all this" but I pushed the feelings aside and allowed my son to have the time of his life. It made for a wonderful memory. After taking a short stroll around a nearby lake, we buckled up - with a happy, smiling boy - and headed home.

P.S. Although we spent our day showering our son with love and attention, it has to be said that my loving husband surprised me with a colorful assortment of two dozen roses AND a box of chocolates! We hope your Valentine's Day was as memorable as ours!! ;)
