Brode was playing with his toys while I was checking email in the family room. The next thing I know Brode comes over -all excited- and tries putting something into the side of my computer. I'm watching him to make sure he doesn't actually fit anything into my laptop. Then, something falls from his fingertips and into my lap. Sure enough, it's the worm! Alive!
Of course, I fling it off of me (I swear I used to not be such a scaredy cat of bugs) and investigate. Brode and I bend over this wiggling worm and look at each other... all grins. I tell him, "Brode, did you know you picked up a worm??" The poor thing started to look frightened, so I tell him it's okay. It was funny. He had found his first worm!
We immediately went to get kleenix (yes, I still couldn't pick it up, even though my 19 month old son had) and flushed him down the toilet. Brode was delighted to take part in this ceremony and his fears turned into smiles, once again.
Next time -since I'm almost positive there will be a next time- I hope he brings it to Daddy first. Yuck.

I'm scared to death of worms. I might have had a heart attack to have one on my lap. You are braver than I.
PS, we had a giant spider on our sidewalk today. I captured it under a tupperware and put a pumpkin on top to keep it there. I'm hoping it dies by lunch time and Richard and deal with it.
Okay, now I think Brode is looking just like his mommy.
Oh, he makes me smile! Remember the time we found a worm stuck on the bottom of my shoe?! Haha...that was so disgusting!
you should have set him free outside...that's what jill cox does with all the bugs she finds in the office :)
