Changing Seasons

There's something to say about changing seasons. Winter melting into spring, spring warming up into summer, and summer cooling off for the fall. Unfortunately, living in Texas, we don't have the privilege to see the beauty in these changing seasons. For us "Northerners" it stays warm all year round. Oh how I miss Nebraska for this very reason.

I can only imagine the smell of fall being in the air; the leaves starting to change into their brilliant shades or red, orange, and yellow. It's the time of year where you can wear your favorite, worn-in jeans and hooded sweatshirt. It's definitely the perfect season for football.

Eventually the leaves will fall from the trees and snow will begin to fall, leaving a sparkling white blanket across the plains. It's the perfect setting to see snow falling out your window - in the moonlight - as you sit near the fireplace. And it's quiet... oh, so very quiet when it snows. It's as if the world has decided to finally stay in for the night to simply enjoy the tranquility.

Yes, I miss the changing seasons of Nebraska. They are brilliant and most definitely needed. They help close chapters in our lives and even help start new ones. Although, I'll miss out on fall, I will look forward to seeing my breath in the winter. And hope that someday - just someday - we can come back to experience these changing seasons once again.
