First of all, I would like to say how absolutely proud I am of our players and coaches. This season began with adversity but will end in making history. With only a hand full of seniors starting both on offense and defense, our young and INEXPERIENCED team has already left their mark in the record books as being one of the best 10 teams in the tradition rich history of Brenham football. Each week our kids rise to the challenge. Each week we learn more about them as players and people. They are great kids who want to do right. Personally, I am so proud of everything they have accomplished. Did we continue to the home winning streak? No. Did we win our district for the sixth year in a row? No. But these kids have grown closer as a team and are now one of 8 teams that remain in the Texas High School 4A football playoffs.
The 4th round may prove to be the most difficult as we face the winner between Terry and Dayton. Dayton may sound familiar as their starting QB has already committed to the University of Nebraska...let me be the first to tell you that I'm glad he will be wearing an N on the side of his helmet for the next four years! He is a big kid (much like K-State's Josh Freeman) and has a rocket for an arm.
Stay tuned to the Shannel Channel for further coverage of Brenham Football as the Cubs make a run for a state title. (6 Rounds, 64 Teams...1 Champion)
