So as most of you know, Texas grew on me. After raising our boys there for four years, it definitely holds a special place in my heart. I miss many things about it - especially the memories we built with our boys (the hospital Bryson was born at, the homes they took their first steps in, and of course the many friendships we built along the way).
However, being back home has offered many blessings. I love being close to family. And when we ask Brode if he likes living in Nebraska his answer is undoubtedly, "Yes because my mimi and papa and cousins live here." They are happy and that makes me happy.
A couple of weeks ago offered a nugget of joy for me. We woke up, surprisingly, to snow falling. That's one thing I missed while living away from home. Seasons. Snow. The serenity of a white blanket covering the neighborhood. And the pure joy and excitement of my boys was priceless. I will forevermore hold onto that memory - the looks on their faces, the giddiness in their step, and the playfulness with each other.
I, without hesitation, bundled them up - p.j.'s and all - because I knew the snow wasn't going to last long. Precious, priceless gift from up above. The simplicity of snow. The beauty of it. The sheer happiness it brings along with it.
Seriously... priceless.
Yes, he even tasted it!
I can't wait until they see the whole "earth" covered in a blanket of white.
