Pre-K Open House

In the beginning of April, I kept telling myself, "Five more months... you still have five more months before he goes to school." Now the time has come. Oh, how quickly it has come... I'm grateful that we get to use this as a transition period, for both myself and Brode.
Brode will attend pre-school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for only 2.5 hours each day. I can't even think about letting him go each and every day, all day, in only a year's time. However, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
My son is definitely ready for pre-K! That makes my heart smile. As much as I hate the idea of loosening my grip on my firstborn, I feel pride knowing he's ready. He absolutely loved the open house. His favorite sections included the chalkboard and the library!
Those of you who have been through this, know how I am feeling. For those of you who regularly follow me, please keep us in your prayers as we begin teaching our child how to "fly" on his own. My prayer goes something like this:

Dear Lord, I know that you have wonderful things stored up for my son. Please bless him with teachers, coaches, and friends who will help guide him and lead him spiritually. Help my son to learn about Jesus every single day and to be kind, serving others, along the way. I ask that you would protect him and keep him safe from harm's way. Help me to trust others to take care of my son. Give Daddy and I the wisdom on knowing how to keep our son on the narrow path and teach him how to go against the flow when it's the right thing to do. Give him good health and happiness. Give me a mother's instinct in knowing when to "step in" and when to let him figure things out on his own. Most importantly, bless him, protect him, mold and shape him into the man of integrity you want him to become. Amen.

Yay for the blog entry!! I have missed knowing what is happening in your world! Brode looks so grown up and ready for Pre K. It is hard to believe that he is old enough already! I can't wait to hear stories about this new chapter!
