Friendly Comparison

We are expected to get an "arctic freeze" tonight... freezing temperatures and sleet... the first time it's been this cold in 20 years. So for fun I thought I'd do a little comparison...

Nebraskans don't typically pull out their winter gear until it gets well below the 40's.
Texans wear their stocking hats, coats, and gloves as soon as it hits 50-60's.

Nebraskans don't close school until we get several inches/feet of snow and ice.
Texans just closed school early - today - because of predicted "freezing cold" weather.

Nebraskans will venture out in negative degree weather, taking care of every day business.
Texans gather food and firewood so they don't have to leave their homes when it hits 30's.

Okay, so this was just to name a few... But coming from Nebraska, we find ourselves smiling when we see our southern friends getting ready for the "cold." Better yet are the strangers we find in stores preparing for the big freeze.

I thought you'd enjoy this, Northerners, because you just had school cancelled due to heavy snow! ;)

So true. :) I do have to correct my southern friends when they "complain" about their cold weather and it's 40 degrees. :) Thanks, made me smile. :)

Virginians do the same thing!!!! Colin gets annoyed when they cancel school based on a forecast for snow! hahahaha...we laugh a lot to at all these warm blooded people!

There is also a funny similarity with Northerners and hurricane season....I'm just sayin ;)

I have a feeling people in Minnesota or New York or New Hampshire would have some of the same comparisons to their "southern" friends in Nebraska. The town where I grew up in upstate NY had 60 inches of snow yesterday and it was continuing to snow school wasn't cancelled.

I'd love some 40 degrees right now though. I did go to work today WITHOUT a coat. It was 8 degrees. Call me crazy, but I hate getting inside and being so hot!
